In Chad Stahelski's "Highlander" reboot, the wrestling community will be represented not only by Dave Bautista.
Amazon MGM continues to assemble the cast for the remake of the 1986 "Highlander." According to Deadline, WWE wrestler Drew McIntyre has joined the project. He will play Angus MacLeod, the brother of Connor MacLeod, who will be played by Henry Cavill.
McIntyre began his wrestling career in 2001 and is a two-time WWE champion, but he only recently made his film debut. His first role was in the comedy action film "Killer Game" (2024), where he starred alongside Dave Bautista. As a reminder, Bautista himself will play the main antagonist in the new "Highlander" — he landed the role of Kurgan. Thus, colleagues in the industry will meet again on the same set.
Currently, the film's production is suspended. Filming, which was supposed to begin in the fall, has been postponed due to a leg injury sustained by Henry Cavill. The actor will need about six months to recover.
The film still does not have an approved release date. Chad Stahelski previously mentioned 2027 or 2028, but a release in 2027 now seems unlikely.
