According to a new report by the Entertainment Software Association, women make up 48% of all gamers. The study combines data from associations across six continents.
The survey was conducted among more than 24,000 people over the age of 16 in 21 countries. In ten countries, there are more female gamers than male gamers, and in two countries, their share reaches 50%. In Brazil, women make up 57% of gamers, and in South Africa, 58%.
Mobile devices are the primary way for women to play games: 64% choose mobile platforms, while almost half of men also play on mobile. Overall, mobile games have become the preference of 55% of respondents, while only 21% prefer PCs or laptops.
In addition, 66% of players stated that the main reason for playing is enjoyment, 58% use games to relieve stress, and 45% cite mental stimulation as an important factor.
The study emphasizes that the mobile segment and the female audience continue to grow, influencing global trends in the gaming industry.
