Sony has released an advertisement dedicated to Genshin Impact, where it explained why the game is leaving the PS4. The company stated that the project has become "too large" and "requires a more powerful device" than the aging console can offer.
Previously, HoYoverse studio confirmed that support for the PS4 version will cease from April 8, 2026. Players will be able to continue their adventures on PS5, PC, Xbox Series X|S, and mobile devices.
The explanation raised doubts among the community: Genshin Impact is not considered a technically complex game, especially against the backdrop of major projects like Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 still being released on PS4. According to many, Sony is simply using the situation to accelerate the transition of users to PlayStation 5.
Perhaps the company also played a role in HoYoverse's decision itself, as Genshin Impact remains one of the leaders in revenue in Asian markets and regularly receives PlayStation Partner Awards — the latest in 2024.
