Community feedback on the game's technical state has been heard.
Arrowhead Game Studios has introduced a technical patch for Helldivers 2, containing numerous balance adjustments. It also fixes various bugs and crashes, and improves optimization.
The developers noted that they have "radically changed" their approach to releasing updates — they focused on the most painful issues reported by players. Now, the authors are paying more attention to stability and balance, as well as errors that "most affect your gaming experience."
Some improvements and changes:
· Improved handling of body physics when calculating damage
· Optimized automaton modules and NPC eyes by replacing particle effects with shaders
· Optimized AI behavior by analyzing and removing redundant code
· Reduced stuttering during the sequence of joining missions in hive worlds
· Improved audio I/O performance
· Improved performance by optimizing character level of detail
· Optimized resource allocation for some types of planets
· Optimized scattered objects, such as grass, on various types of planets
· Optimized resource allocation in hive worlds and in terminid caves
· Optimized the configuration and geometry of resources used in hive worlds and terminid caves
· Optimized the physics of status effects and the particle system, while maintaining visual feedback and quality
· Optimized visual effects of automaton explosions
· Made various optimizations to the fire system, including particle and lighting optimization
· Improved performance by optimizing the rendering of several shaders
