Many players were satisfied with Battlefield Redsec. The free Battle Royale mode from DICE did not receive unanimous approval.
Yesterday saw the release of Battlefield Redsec, a free-to-play battle royale mode from DICE. The developers wanted to open a new chapter in the world of Battlefield and attract players looking for dynamic battles in the style of Warzone. But the start was unsuccessful: the community gave the game a cool reception.
On Steam, there are currently "mixed" reviews, with only 42% of ratings being positive - this came as a surprise for a project of this scale. The idea was to breathe new life into the series, but many considered Redsec an unsuccessful attempt to copy Call of Duty: Warzone.
The most common criticisms are:
- lack of a solo mode;
- being forced to play in teams with random players;
- short time-to-kill, which makes the gameplay chaotic;
- boring maps and an unsatisfactory shooting system;
- the feeling that the game is a "copy of Warzone."
The game is called "chaotic, incomprehensible and lacking identity" or joked: "Warzone 3.0 on the cheap."
DICE wanted to bring freshness back to the battle royale genre, but the community perceives Redsec as a late and secondary experiment. Many players believe that it is better to focus on refining Battlefield 6, rather than wasting resources on free copies of competitors.
