The first wave of price increases due to memory shortages was milder than analysts expected, but a new one will follow soon.
Information from GPU distributors has revealed that AMD is indeed planning to raise prices on Radeon video cards as early as the end of 2025. According to Tom’s Hardware, the cost will increase by $10 for every 8GB of video memory.
This means that the Radeon RX 9060 XT 8GB will increase in price from $299 to $309, and the 16GB version from $349 to $369. Mid-range and high-end models, including the Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT, will increase in price by $20: their new suggested retail prices will be $569 and $619, respectively.
Previously, sources on the Chinese forum Board Channels reported a sharper increase — $20 for 8GB models and $40 for 16GB models. However, the actual increase was exactly twice as mild. According to Tom’s Hardware, AMD revised the prices to avoid market fluctuations and maintain competitiveness with NVIDIA and Intel.
However, this is only the first stage. A new wave of price increases is expected as early as January 2026, and according to preliminary data, it will be noticeably more significant — approximately $42 per 8GB of video memory.
