The project is being developed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X consoles, and PC.
Independent studio Cognition has announced the release date for its debut project. The sci-fi adventure with elements of exploration and survival, Lunar Strike, will be released in May 2026 on Steam for PC and PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles.
Lunar Strike is set on the Moon, where humanity is trying to preserve its heritage in the face of an impending catastrophe. The main character, Bo, an "astro-archivist" with technological implants, is tasked with preserving artifacts and cultural heritage of the last lunar colony before it is destroyed by a celestial anomaly.
The Cognition Europe team notes that they were inspired by real initiatives to preserve cultural monuments and ethical issues of space exploration. The developers emphasize that they want to "invite the player to reflect on the future of humanity and what we will leave behind."
There will be no battles in the game: the gameplay is built around survival, exploration, puzzle solving, and moral choices. The player will have to act in conditions of limited time, environmental degradation, and increasing pressure — both physical and emotional.
Special attention is paid to realism. Lunar Strike is being created in collaboration with scientists studying the lunar environment and takes into account real physical parameters: low gravity, toxic lunar dust, and the danger of meteorite impacts.
