Heroes will not always work in open areas.
The authors of the Russian tactics game Red Recon 1944 (or "Reconnaissance: 1944") recently decided to present a piece of the bunker's interior, as well as talk about the features of the gameplay in enclosed spaces.
The developers explained that open spaces give the player more tactical freedom: you can find a detour to the goal or completely avoid meeting the enemy; independently choose the distance of the battle; plan an attack in advance, study the enemy's routes and organize an ambush.
Enclosed spaces are much more treacherous:
The space for maneuvers is limited, which makes it more difficult to hide from patrols and sneak up on sentries. Even if you manage to eliminate the target unnoticed, it will not always be possible to hide the body of the eliminated Nazi. At the same time, a clash with the enemy in a narrow corridor or a lighted room will surely lead to a shootout, and all German soldiers nearby will run to the sounds of shots.
However, you can find useful resources, intelligence and weapons in such rooms, so the "game is worth the candle." Grenades can help with clearing - the closer the opponents are, the better.
