The system will be able to dynamically cut, hide, or replace objectionable scenes with deepfakes.
Sony Interactive Entertainment has patented a technology that uses artificial intelligence to dynamically censor content in video games. This will allow real-time removal or masking of violent scenes, blood, sexual content, or profanity, turning adult games into versions suitable for children.
The AI analyzes what is happening on the screen — visuals and audio — and intervenes instantly: blurs blood, replaces character models, mutes swearing, or even substitutes neutral dialogue using deepfakes. Parents will be able to set rules in advance: for example, prohibit only violence, but allow light swearing.
Unlike existing filters (like in Fortnite or Roblox), which are static and built-in by developers, this technology is reactive and works in real time with any games and on any platforms.
