Fallout: New Vegas Receives Fan-Made Next-Gen Texture Update

Modern technologies allow enthusiasts to improve graphics on their own.

While there are rumors of a remake or remaster of Fallout: New Vegas, some fans are independently updating their favorite game.

Recently, a modder named Montisz released a set of next-gen textures. He used ByteDance's modern AI model SeedVR2, which is designed for upscaling images and videos. The resolution of all FNV textures is 2-4 times higher than the original.

Montisz explained how his project differs from many similar ones:

Unlike older mods that just made blurry images slightly sharper (and sometimes they looked "waxy"), the seedvr2_ema_7b_fp16 model adds realistic details-such as wood grain, rust, and fabric patterns that weren't visible before-while improving text.

The "New Vegas Restoration Project (VRP) 1.0" mod for Fallout: New Vegas is distributed for free via Nexus Mods.
