US President Accused of Causing Capcom's Reluctance to Make a Collector's Edition of Resident Evil Requiem
During yesterday's Resident Evil Showcase, many fans were waiting not only for new gameplay footage with Leon Kennedy, but also for the long-awaited announcement of a collector's edition for Resident Evil Requiem — the largest installment in the series in recent years. Almost every major game in the franchise, starting with the Resident Evil 2 remake, received a collector's edition with a large statue of the main character. Given the rumors of Leon's return, many expected Capcom to save the announcement specifically for the broadcast.
However, instead, the company presented only a deluxe version (which had been known for a long time) and two separate figures of Leon and Grace Ascroft (in 1/6 scale). These statues look exactly like those that are usually included in collector's editions, and they can even be placed next to each other. A full-fledged collector's edition with a box, statue, and other bonuses was never announced — and, apparently, it won't be at all.
A reliable Resident Evil insider, known as AestheticGamer1 (Dusk Golem), gave an explanation for this situation.
"As much as some people don't want to hear it, I think it's Donald Trump and his unpredictable, ever-changing tariffs that led to Resident Evil Requiem not having a collector's edition", - AestheticGamer1.
Capcom has not provided official comments regarding the absence of a collector's edition.
