Sony will not postpone the premiere of Bungie's new project. CFO Lin Tao announced that after a series of tests with players and corrections, Marathon is fully ready for release on March 5, 2026.
According to Tao, the developers took into account the testers' critical comments and improved the game's weaknesses, which gave confidence before the start. She added:
PlayStation is very confident in the success of the game.
A ranked mode will appear in Marathon. Participation will require holographic tokens — special items collected from defeated opponents. Progress in the tables depends on the value of the loot that players successfully extracted from the area of operations. Maps are updated weekly, requiring constant adaptation.
The ranking system includes: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Supreme, and the prestigious Master for the elite. A successful escape without completing the objective does not lower the rank, but death in the mission resets the points. Holographic tokens of varying rarity increase the base point limit, and capturing tokens from opponents allows you to exceed the limits. Players with Platinum and above will have access to high-risk zones with valuable seasonal rewards.
