Black Hand Studio has presented the first trailer for The Dark West and showcased their vision of a grim isometric ARPG.
The Dark West is aimed at Diablo fans who are tired of dungeons. This time, the action takes place in the cursed Wild West. The trailer shows that the developers are betting on tough and uncompromising gameplay.
The plot revolves around a world poisoned by black magic. The player has to survive among enemies fueled by dark rituals — the factions of The Order and The Damned. The classic ARPG formula is complemented by a card system in the spirit of poker: the character collects "hands" that change abilities and bonuses, combines effects, and takes risks for an advantage in battle.
Black Hand emphasizes that the project is being developed in collaboration with the community. According to the team, player feedback will influence the combat system, plot, and world design.
In terms of atmosphere, The Dark West is about cursed towns, depleted mines, and eternal twilight. Among the key mechanics is the "power at the cost of consequences" system: alcohol enhances the character but dulls perception, turning every decision into a potentially dangerous one. The authors promise a dark and deep character development system, legendary weapons, dynamic skills, and fast, tactical, and merciless battles.
