Strauss Zelnick doesn't believe that such technologies will help tiny indie studios compete with large companies.
In an interview with The Game Business, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick stated that technologies like Google's Project Genie will not be able to equalize the capabilities of individual developers with large companies. According to him, game creation tools have been around for a long time, and thousands of projects are released with their help every year, but real hits are still almost always created by large companies — and only occasionally by indie studios.
The idea that you can press a button and get a hit that will attract millions of players around the world is simply ridiculous. It has never happened in the entertainment industry.
As an example, Zelnick cited musical AI services that can generate compositions on demand: they may sound professional, but, according to him, "you probably wouldn't want to listen to them more than once".
