"I'm tired of seeing this": Tunic publisher criticizes the influx of AI games

You won't believe how many AI games we have in our inbox right now. It's much more than I've ever seen.

Finji is a small team known for publishing Tunic, Night in the Woods, and other projects. The studio regularly reviews applications from developers but is now facing a flood of AI content.

To show the mechanics, you're better off just sending sketches from programmers. We are game designers. Our job is to help assemble a team. You don't need to be able to do everything.

The company has already changed contracts: Finji can terminate the agreement if the developer hides the use of AI.

Literally no one owns what they create. It cannot be copyrighted. You can be sued for theft. This is a huge risk.

Finji does not plan to use such technologies:

We just won't participate in this market and use this technology in our games. I don't care if it's an unpopular position. I'm an indie developer. I don't need it.
