Adapting each update for such devices takes two to three times longer.

Developing games for portable and less powerful platforms like Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and Steam Deck remains a serious challenge for studios. Unlike more powerful systems like PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, developers have to take into account strict hardware limitations.

Nevertheless, some teams are willing to go the extra mile. For example, the developers from Hello Games, known for No Man's Sky, said that supporting mobile platforms requires significantly more resources. According to engine programmer Martin Griffiths, adapting each update for such devices takes two to three times longer than for other platforms, including PC and consoles.

The main problem remains the limited amount of memory. The developers note that they literally have to "overcome impossible memory limitations" in order for the game to continue to evolve and remain accessible to users of these devices.
