Peter Berg actively criticized war games in his time.

It recently became known that a full-length film based on the Call of Duty franchise is in the works. The premiere is scheduled for June 30, 2028, and the project is being created in collaboration between Activision and Paramount Pictures. Plot details have not yet been revealed, but the film is expected to be filled with large-scale battle scenes.

Interest in the film intensified after the director, co-writer, and producer of the film, Peter Berg, came into the spotlight. It turned out that in the past, the creator sharply criticized military video games, including Call of Duty.

In an interview with Esquire magazine in 2013, Berg called such games "pathetic" and stated that people who spend hours playing them look like "weaklings". According to him, he only made an exception for military personnel who could use games as a way to pass the time during service. He advised young people to play more sports and simply go outside more often.

Pathetic. Insignificant. Couch warriors. I can't stand it. The only ones I can forgive [their love for shooters] are military personnel. They serve, they're bored, and they want to entertain themselves.
Peter Berg, director.

These statements were made during Berg's work on the film "Lone Survivor," based on real events. At that time, the director actively interacted with SEAL fighters and even visited Iraq, striving to accurately convey military themes on screen.
