Developers abandoned Undisputed and are making a sequel - fans couldn't hold back
Players were unhappy with the Undisputed 2 announcement. After the announcement, it became clear: the original Undisputed would no longer receive support, which caused a wave of criticism.
Steel City Interactive head Ash Habib released a statement detailing the studio's journey and confirming the development of a more ambitious project.
Habib recalled that the team started as a small indie collective of three people, and the idea itself seemed "crazy." Over time, the project grew into a full-fledged boxing simulator with licenses and dozens of athletes. The game attracted over 5.9 million players, included over 100 boxers, and generated hundreds of millions of fights and knockouts.
However, the developer admitted that the project did not meet all expectations. Months of refinements did not help – the current technology and game base do not allow achieving the desired quality. As a result, the studio decided to abandon further development and start from scratch.
The first part will no longer receive updates and content. All resources are directed to the sequel, which is being created on a new engine and should be more advanced.
The authors declare plans to make "the most advanced combat sports game," but players were not convinced. The community recalls previous promises of support and accuses the studio of abandoning a purchased product.
If you paid for Undisputed 1, you should automatically get Undisputed 2 for free. We were scammed.
So I was robbed even more than I thought? Great. Who would buy games from them after this?
As one of the first alpha players who for years saw most feedback ignored, and active members banned for pointing out issues, I hope they go bankrupt.
Harsh comments are multiplying online – from disappointment to outright anger. Some players believe the studio has lost trust. Against this backdrop, the sequel starts with a serious reputational burden.
