Roskomnadzor assures it has no connection to Steam outages

The regulator has long earned a reputation as the culprit for all internet and service problems in Russia.

Roskomnadzor stated that it had not imposed any restrictions on the Steam gaming platform in Russia. The agency's comment followed reports from users on June 1 about widespread problems accessing the service.

According to monitoring resources, the highest number of complaints was recorded between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM Moscow time. Approximately 15,000 users reported issues with Steam's operation within 24 hours.

Against the backdrop of these reports, recent actions by Roskomnadzor against foreign gaming companies also drew attention. It was previously reported that since the beginning of 2026, the agency has filed lawsuits against several major foreign game developers for non-compliance with Russian legislation on personal data storage and processing.
