Destiny 2 exploded Steam before the end of support - players demand Destiny 3
Destiny 2 experienced a sharp surge in activity after the announcement of the end of major support: the last big patch caused an influx of players, server crashes, and massive demands for the creation of Destiny 3.
Destiny 2 received its final major update before transitioning to more relaxed support, and players had agreed in advance to massively log into the game. As a result, the servers crashed just minutes after the patch launched.
Usually, such failures cause complaints, but this time the community posted screenshots of errors and marked it as a "farewell" to the game. This way, fans wanted to show Bungie and Sony that the project is still alive and the audience is significant.
Later, players actively began demanding Destiny 3, considering it a mistake that the studio did not start developing a sequel earlier. Meanwhile, Destiny 2 was released in 2017 and still maintains high activity.
According to SteamDB, the peak online exceeded 167 thousand players on Steam alone, and the game even made it into the platform's top sales. Against this background, fans compare the figures with the failures of other studio projects.
Despite the hype, Destiny 3 is not currently in development: creating a new installment would take years and require enormous resources.
