Lords of the Fallen II Developers Show New Brutal Soulslike Trailer
A new episode of Lifting the Veil was also released, in which the project's creators discussed design, combat system, Unreal Engine 5, and Umbral.
CI Games has released a new episode of the developer diary series Lifting the Veil, dedicated to Lords of the Fallen II. In the fresh installment, the development team thoroughly analyzed the Battle for Thorngar trailer presented at Summer Game Fest and revealed a number of new details about the project.
The developers talked about new biomes that players will explore. Among them is the Japanese-inspired dimension of Yisugen, as well as other previously unshown regions.
The new episode of Lifting the Veil contains over two minutes of fresh gameplay. Special attention is paid to a new weapon class – katanas. According to the developers, they make battles more dynamic and personal through a combination of swift strikes and fluid animations, while maintaining the series' signature combat brutality.
The video also shows three massive boss battles for the first time. One of the most memorable opponents will be the Heiress – an angel-like creature with multiple limbs and gruesome wings made of countless severed hands.
A separate part of the episode is dedicated to the technological side of the project. CI Games continues its close collaboration with Epic Games, utilizing the capabilities of the Unreal Engine 5, including Nanite and Lumen technologies, to create more detailed and vibrant game worlds.
The developers also discussed the refinements to the grim Umbral dimension, which are being made based on community feedback. According to game director James Lowe, the team aims to strike a balance between the atmosphere of the world of the dead and the feeling that this space should feel more alive and constantly changing.
