As the genius says, he struggled to find support to start development. Only Phil Spencer backed his ideas.

Hideo Kojima, creator of the Metal Gear Solid series and head of Kojima Productions, shared new details about the mysterious horror game OD. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the game designer revealed that he struggled to find a company willing to support the project, as many considered its concept too strange.

Along with the interview, a new screenshot of OD was published. The image shows a gloomy yellow corridor with an old-fashioned television and a mysterious figure in a doorway at the end of the room. Many fans immediately noticed the similarity of the shot to the legendary P.T. demo – the canceled Silent Hills project.

According to Kojima, he presented the idea of OD to many large and young companies, but almost all reacted the same way.

I showed OD to many people – large companies and young studios. Everyone said I was crazy and didn't understand the concept.

Ultimately, the project received approval thanks to Xbox's head of gaming, Phil Spencer, who gave the green light for development.

Although very little is still known about the game, Kojima confirmed that his goal is to take the horror genre to a new level. According to him, OD should surpass the limits of fear achieved by other games.

I wanted to go beyond the level of fear that other games have achieved. This is a single-player game, and I wanted to make it as scary as possible. But for those who might quit due to too much terror, I've devised a special system that will allow them to continue playing. I can't say more yet.
