Bill Skarsgård and Patrick Wilson Considered for Professor X Role - Rumor
Marvel Studios is reportedly considering Bill Skarsgård and Patrick Wilson for the role of Charles Xavier in the "X-Men" reboot. According to insider MyTimeToShineHello, the "It" star is already in talks to participate in the film. In turn, Knight Edge Media claims that the studio is also looking at the lead actor from "The Conjuring" series.
Both actors have already appeared in comic book movies. Skarsgård voiced the deviant Kro in "Eternals," while Wilson played Nite Owl in "Watchmen" and Ocean Master in two "Aquaman" films. In 2015, Wilson was also considered for the role of Darren Cross in "Ant-Man" but left the project after director Edgar Wright's departure.
The potential choice between Skarsgård and Wilson may depend on how Marvel envisions the new Professor X. The actors are currently 35 and 53 years old, respectively, so the studio could choose either a younger version of the X-Men founder or an experienced mentor for an already established team of mutants.
As with previous casting rumors for the reboot, Marvel Studios has not yet confirmed any candidates. The new "X-Men" film will be directed by Jake Schreier, who also directed "Thunderbolts*". The film does not yet have an official premiere date, although its release is expected in 2028.
