The developers will collaborate with Obsidian and create another Fallout game.

There is a widespread belief in the gaming community that there is a feud between Obsidian Entertainment and Bethesda Game Studios. Allegedly, the company envies the success of Fallout: New Vegas — a game that, for some fans, is the best in the entire franchise.

Recently, Todd Howard once again spoke on the topic of the alleged feud — again refuting the rumors. The developer told Windows Central journalist Jez Corden that there is mutual respect between the developers:

I understand all the fan talk, but behind the scenes, there's a tremendous amount of mutual respect between Bethesda and Obsidian. We've always thought about whether there's a way to work together. And when those opportunities arise, I, of course, look at the franchise as a whole — as you can see from [our recent statement], everything that's happening around Fallout.

Bethesda Game Studios announced in July the development of a full-fledged new installment of Fallout 5, as well as remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas.

In addition, the company confirmed the development of a new Fallout franchise game by Obsidian Entertainment:

The wasteland continues to expand, and we are once again teaming up with our long-time partners at Obsidian Entertainment. We are excited to confirm that they are working with us on a new project in the Fallout universe. Further details will be revealed later.
