007 First Light screenwriter Michael Vogt revealed that in the early stages of development, the project looked completely different. According to him, the initial concept involved a story about several "00" program agents who were supposed to perform tasks together.

In an interview with Eurogamer, Vogt said that the introductory part of the game, where James Bond undergoes training with other future agents, was conceived as a kind of "red herring" for players. The developers wanted to create the impression that an adventure of an entire team of operatives working side-by-side awaited them.

According to the plot, one of the first operations ends in disaster: the mission gets out of control, and Bond remains the only surviving member of the program. It is this twist that completely changes the direction of the story and becomes the starting point for the protagonist's maturation.

Vogt admitted that the team initially seriously considered an option where different "00" agents would indeed act together throughout the game. However, he no longer remembers at what point the developers abandoned this idea.

According to the screenwriter, the change in concept was due to character development. At the beginning of the story, Bond appears as a carefree young man for whom the work of a secret agent seems like an exciting adventure with world travel and dangerous missions. However, tragic events force him to face the harsh reality of the profession, where every operation can be the last. It is this experience that transforms the hero into a more mature and serious agent.
