The anime series "Star Wars: The Ninth Jedi" premiered on Disney+

This is the first project in the new "Star Wars: Visions Presents" line, within which Lucasfilm will develop the anthology's most popular stories into separate series.

The premiere of the anime series "Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi" took place on Disney+. The project continues the story of Kara – the daughter of master armorer Lah Zhima. After her father, who forged six lightsabers to revive the Jedi Order, is captured by the Sith, the girl sets out to find him and tries to locate others sensitive to the Force.

The series was produced by the Japanese studio Production I.G, known for "Ghost in the Shell". Kenji Kamiyama, who directed the original short film "The Ninth Jedi", served as the main director of the project, Shunsuke Tada as director, and Mitsuyasu Sakai wrote the script.

Ahead of the release, Lucasfilm freely published two short films – "The Ninth Jedi" and "The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope" – on its official YouTube channel. They tell Kara's backstory and connect the events of the "Star Wars: Visions" anthology with the new series, allowing viewers to get acquainted with the heroine even before watching the continuation on Disney+.

The first season of "Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi" includes eight episodes.
