Destin Daniel Cretton Ready to Direct Wonder Man Film After Second Season Cancellation
The director believes that a theatrical release would allow for a more accurate assessment of the character's audience demand.
Following the cancellation of the second season of "Wonder Man," Destin Daniel Cretton expressed his readiness to continue Simon Williams' story in a feature film format. When directly asked by TheWrap, the director answered affirmatively and explained that a theatrical release offers more transparent metrics of success:
"Then we'll know exactly if the movie is successful or not. The numbers will be crystal clear."
Cretton contrasted box office revenue with the internal statistics of streaming services, which often remain inaccessible even to project creators. According to him, he still has not received a detailed explanation as to why Disney and Marvel abandoned the already approved continuation of the series.
However, a Wonder Man film is not currently in development. Showrunner Andrew Guest previously separately denied rumors that the second season was being turned into a feature-length project. Cretton's words reflect only his personal interest in the character's return, while Marvel's future plans for Simon Williams remain unknown.
