Xbox head Asha Sharma confirmed that a new story trailer for Gears of War: E-Day will have its world premiere at gamescom. Along with the announcement, Sharma posted a three-second teaser where some monster is about to stomp on some poor souls.

Gears of War: E-Day is a prequel to the original series and tells the story of Emergence Day (E-Day) — the event that marked the beginning of humanity's full-scale war with the Locust. The game will also reveal the origins of Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago's friendship.

Interest in the project significantly increased after the recent open beta testing, which took place over two weekends. According to SteamDB, on August 14, the beta's peak online players exceeded 22,000 on Steam.
