Russia became the third largest market for Mortal Shell II. The game has already sold 510 thousand copies
According to analysts, gamers have bought all physical editions of the soulslike.
According to Alinea Analytics, Mortal Shell II has already sold approximately 510 thousand copies worldwide, and this refers to fully realized sales — there are no unsold physical stocks left with retailers.
The main audience for Mortal Shell 2 was on PC: 57.6% of sales came from Steam. Another 33.8% of copies were sold on PlayStation 5, and the remaining 8.6% on Xbox. About 10% of PS5 version sales were physical editions. The total revenue of the game is estimated at approximately $23 million.
A significant role in the success could have been played by the demo version, which developers from Cold Symmetry and publisher Playstack released before the official launch. According to Alinea Analytics, almost 1 million people tried it: about 600 thousand players in the early version on Steam, 225 thousand on PS5, and another 90 thousand on Xbox. As a result, approximately every third buyer of the full version first got acquainted with the game through the demo.
At the same time, the audience of the sequel on Steam only partially overlaps with fans of the original. Only about 9% of Mortal Shell 2 players on the platform had previously launched the first part.
Russia became the third largest market for Mortal Shell 2 on Steam after the USA and China, accounting for more than 8% of the audience. Analysts attribute this, in part, to the origin of some of the founders of Cold Symmetry: among them are well-known developers Dmitry Parkin and Vitaly Bulgarov.
