First Beta Weekend Brings Activision 400,000 Modern Warfare 4 Pre-orders on Steam

Despite PC not being the primary platform for the Call of Duty series.

According to analysts' estimates, after the first beta weekend, the number of pre-ordered copies of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on Steam is approaching 400,000, with revenue potentially reaching around $21 million.

For the Call of Duty series, Steam traditionally isn't the primary platform even among PC audiences, so these figures look particularly impressive. For comparison, Black Ops 7 sales on Steam at launch were 200,000 copies. Thus, Modern Warfare 4 has already roughly doubled the result of last year's game – and there are still almost two months until the full release.

Modern Warfare 4 pre-orders began on May 28, and the first phase of early access to the beta ran from August 21 to 25. The second phase, now open to all players, will take place from August 28 to September 1. The full version is scheduled for release on October 23.
