"It's Neural Slop": RPCS3 PlayStation 3 Emulator Developers Refuse to Add DLSS 5 Support
Not everyone is happy with modern technologies.
Recently, PC gamers gained early access to the NVIDIA DLSS 5 library. The necessary files were extracted from an early version of the NBA 2K27 basketball simulator.
Soon, this modern technology began to be integrated into various games and launched not only on modern GeForce RTX 50 series graphics cards, but also on RTX 20, RTX 30, and RTX 40 lines — performance often leaves much to be desired, but sometimes something playable can be achieved.
Experimenters also reached the popular PlayStation 3 emulator and began urging developers to add official NVIDIA DLSS 5 support. The creators of RPCS3 reviewed the test results of the technology and stated that they would not implement it into their project:
Will DLSS 5 be in RPCS3? Several people are testing the leaked DLSS 5 DLL on our renderer. We have seen the neural garbage it generates. While the gaming industry promotes more upscalers and frame generation to "hallucinate" [draw in] games and hide the lack of optimization, we will not release such neural slop.

Meanwhile, some tech enthusiasts are integrating NVIDIA DLSS 5 into PlayStation 2 games — with the help of an emulator.
