SEGA and Netflix are working on a new animated series based on Sonic the Hedgehog
The project will tell a standalone story, unrelated to other adaptations of the franchise.
Netflix and SEGA have started work on a new animated series about Sonic and his friends. The project is primarily aimed at a preschool audience and will tell a standalone story, unrelated to "Sonic Prime" or the "Sonic the Hedgehog" movie franchise.
Carlos Stevens, who worked on the anthology "Love, Death & Robots," and SEGA producer Toru Nakahara, who participated in the development of "Sonic the Hedgehog" movie, are involved in the development. The creators describe the animated series as an energetic comedy with an emotional core, in which Sonic and his friends will appear as a close-knit team of heroes.
The animated series will be part of a large-scale agreement between Netflix and SEGA. It also includes full-length adaptations of Crazy Taxi and Stranger Than Heaven. The premiere date has not yet been announced.
