The Blood of Dawnwalker has been dubbed by many as "The Witcher 3 with vampires." A representative from Rebel Wolves, a studio comprised of former CD Projekt Red employees, stated that they are not bothered by such comparisons.
"It doesn't bother us," said quest designer Patryk Fijałkowski in an interview. "We understand these parallels, but at the same time, we want to make it clear: we are creating our own beast."
The reasons for the associations are obvious. Dawnwalker transports players to 14th-century Europe, where realism intertwines with myths and folklore. The game will feature monsters, elements of occultism, sword fights, and complex moral choices. All that's missing is a monster hunter prone to sorceresses.
"It's natural that we are being compared to The Witcher 3. I myself am a fan of this game and consider it excellent. Therefore, it's not a negative comparison. We all support CD Projekt Red and are looking forward to The Witcher 4."
After the presentation of Dawnwalker, fans themselves turned the comparisons into a dispute between the two projects. Rebel Wolves emphasize that there is no confrontation with CD Projekt studio.
Fijałkowski expressed hope that future showings will convince players of the project's originality. The Blood of Dawnwalker will be released in 2026 on PC and current-generation consoles.
