After being taken under Witsteen's wing, the card game based on "The Wheel of Time" has changed its name, got rid of NFTs, and is preparing for release on PC and smartphones.
The card project based on "The Wheel of Time", which has been in development for a long time, has finally found its final form and name - Battle for Randland. Witsteen has officially announced the game as the only licensed TCG based on Robert Jordan's works and has already opened applications for participation in beta testing.
Initially, the game was created by Aether Games under the name Cards of Eternity and used blockchain technologies with NFT elements, which caused criticism among players. After the transfer of rights to Witsteen BV, the project was completely relaunched and got rid of NFT monetization.
In Battle for Randland, players will be able to choose factions familiar from the books and collect decks from leaders, companions, spells, and artifacts taken directly from the lore of "The Wheel of Time". The authors promise a deep strategic system and visually rich presentation - with three-dimensional arenas, animation, and effects.
In addition to standard duels and ranked matches, the game will have a PvE mode, as well as a 2v2 cooperative format. Crossplay between PC and mobile platforms (iOS and Android) is supported. The game will receive Russian localization.
The project is already presented onSteam andEpic Games Store. Also, registration for the beta test is open on the officialwebsite. The full release is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2025, the exact date has not yet been announced.
