Dying Light: The Beast will be a return to the series' roots. Techland focused on gameplay and creating an atmosphere to make the game memorable. The premiere is just over a week away - the release is scheduled for September 19, 2025.
The developers explained in their blog that moving the date from the end of August to mid-September allowed them to implement:
- Improved Volatile mobility for more effective pursuits;
- Precise pathfinding algorithms, reducing unnecessary movements;
- Updated running animation;
- New moves and jump attacks;
- Variety of animation reactions for encounters with enemies;
- Improved Volatile senses to better notice the player;
- Conditions for a fierce fight to the last drop of blood;
- Realistic enemy spawn logic;
- Volatiles jumping onto cars from the front and back;
- Enemy jump physics.
In addition to the mechanics, the team created tense night scenes with an atmosphere of apocalypse. Programmers, designers, and artists worked to make the nights unpredictable and scary.
The night horror scenes are enhanced by sound: enemy footsteps, infected screams, music with tension and heavy breathing of the hero. During the day, the same locations - the city, the forest, and the swamps - open up with beauty and sonic detail. Weapons feel heavy, strikes and shots sound real, and monsters are aggressive and human.
Castor Woods is designed so that the world tells stories and encourages exploration. In addition to visual effects, players will find more than 100 collectible items and Easter eggs.
