Some of the project's creators complained about crunch.
The TES Renewal Project team still intends to release Skyblivion by the end of 2025, despite the departure of some developers who are unhappy with the management's attitude towards them and the project itself.
Designer Dee Keyes, who worked on the project for nine years, announced his departure at the end of August, accusing the management of changing the atmosphere in the team. According to him, over the past two or three years, Skyblivion has turned from a passion-driven project into a "crunch project", where developers face unrealistic expectations. Keyes noted that the trailers and developer diaries created the illusion of a high level of polish, which in reality was impossible to achieve. He also stated that attempts to convince the project manager to postpone the release were ignored, despite the team's unpaid and part-time employment.
The heads of the TES Renewal Project did not respond to IGN's request to comment on Keyes' statement, but Evan Flatt, who is responsible for communicating with the gaming community, assured fans that the team is determined to release Skyblivion in 2025, and if anything suddenly changes, the project's authors will definitely let them know.
We have clearly stated our goal to release the project this year. Nevertheless, we still have a lot to do. Ultimately, Skyblivion will be released when the team is confident in the quality of the project. Our goal is to prepare Skyblivion for release this year.
