Update 2.2.0 has been released for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Definitive Edition, addressing all key aspects of the game: gameplay, multiplayer, interface, and stability.
The developers have eliminated crashes, synchronization errors, fixed the campaign and AI behavior, and made balance adjustments. Key changes include reworking the AI construction logic, fixing mission scripts, and increasing the squad limit for the Sisters of Battle.
Multiplayer has also received important improvements. Now, in Automatch mode, custom banners and army colors are displayed correctly again, the ability to kick players during the countdown has been removed, and ratings are displayed via API. Errors with menus, banners, and icons have also been fixed, loading screens have been improved, and widescreen art support has been added.
The visual aspect has also been affected. The developers have updated animations, textures, and special effects for various factions, improved Necron materials, refined building details, and made maps in the tutorial more readable. New tools have appeared for modders: fixes for the mission editor, support for additional menus, and SCAR documentation.
Changes have also affected the controls. The authors noted several known issues that are planned to be resolved at the end of September, including fps drops in large battles, bugs with unit teleportation, and flaws in the operation of cloud saves.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Definitive Edition was released on August 14, 2025, and includes the 2004 original with the Winter Assault, Dark Crusade, and Soulstorm expansions. The game is available on Steam and GOG.
