Developers are considering preserving and developing the most successful mechanics from Diablo IV seasons.
In the future, Diablo IV may abandon the principle of "seasonal oblivion" and retain some of the most successful mechanics from temporary updates in the main version of the game. This was announced by Blizzard's Director of Social and Content Marketing, Adam Fletcher, answering a user's question about the fate of the Armor of Chaos from the tenth season.
Currently, most seasonal innovations disappear with the start of each new season, giving way to another temporary mechanic. However, in a recent tweet, Fletcher noted that the studio wants to "leave or even develop the things that work well."
At the same time, he clarified that even the most successful mechanics may not return immediately and may not be available in the next season — the process will take time.
Which specific functions may be retained has not yet been specified. However, the very fact that such a possibility is being discussed indicates possible changes in Blizzard's strategy.
The Developer Update Livestream will take place on September 16, and the start of the tenth season is scheduled for September 23.
