One of the founders of the Call of Duty series stated that the publisher Activision at one time put pressure on the developers, offering to create a story campaign about Iran's attack on Israel.
This was revealed by former lead animator at Infinity Ward, Chance Glasco. He was among the 22 developers who founded Infinity Ward in the early 2000s and created the first parts of Call of Duty.
Glasco's statement came after the official White House account on X posted a video with footage of US strikes on Iran, overlaying them with Call of Duty interface elements.
Commenting on the White House video, Glasco wrote on social media that he was not surprised by this use of the game's aesthetics.
I remember that after Activision gained full control after the creation of Respawn Entertainment, there was very awkward pressure from them to make the next CoD about Iran attacking Israel. Fortunately, most of our developers found the idea disgusting and rejected it.
