Borderlands 4 has already been released, but PC users have encountered serious technical problems — this has provoked a wave of criticism and negative reviews on Steam.
The launch of Borderlands 4 turned out to be both triumphant and alarming. On the one hand, the game set a franchise record for online presence — over 207 thousand simultaneous players on Steam. On the other hand, the release was accompanied by a barrage of complaints about performance: crashes, freezes, unstable FPS even on powerful configurations. In the first hours, the project received a "mostly negative" rating, although the rating later improved to "mixed" — against the background of more than 7000 reviews.
In response, Gearbox published a guide to optimizing Borderlands 4 on PCs with NVIDIA video cards. It consists of tables with recommended settings for each specific model. The full list is available at link.
The developers also recommend giving the game at least 15 minutes after changing the settings — during this time, the system will complete the recompilation of shaders, without which performance may temporarily drop. The studio also urges you to update the driver to version 581.29 via GeForce Experience and use the built-in auto-optimization function.
Gearbox head Randy Pitchford added that the day one patch "did a lot", but you shouldn't expect miracles from outdated hardware. Borderlands 4 is a "large, seamless next-generation world", and the game will not work stably on configurations below the minimum requirements by definition.
