The game is being developed by the Neon Giant team, who were responsible for The Ascent.
In an interview with EDGE magazine (issue #421, April 2026), Neon Giant co-founder and No Law creative director Arcade Berg said that the main source of inspiration for NO LAW was immersive simulators.
According to Berg, the team is confident that the game will interest fans of the genre, as well as fans of open-world shooters, cyberpunk, and narrative projects — including fans of The Ascent.
One of the key features will be a systematic approach to the world. The player will be able to kill any character — without exception. However, the consequences can be serious. If a character important to the plot dies, the game will warn about this and offer to load the last save. If the player decides to continue, they will have to deal with the consequences on their own.
"We are building a plausible world with an internal logic that is always followed," explains Berg. For example, if the hero's actions result in too high a reward, he will become a target for everyone — he will be shot on sight. At the same time, up to a certain point, it will be possible to pay a fine and reduce the wanted level. The world reacts to the player's actions not through pre-written scripts, but through the interaction of systems.
At the same time, the developers do not promise a radically branching plot. A noir-style story with a clear structure — beginning, middle, and end — will remain unchanged. However, how exactly it will be told depends on the player's decisions and their consequences.
