Ubisoft is known for big games, but Valhalla turned out to be especially rich.
Recently, the head of development of the Claws of Awaji DLC for Assassin's Creed Shadows spoke with GamesRadar+.
Simon Arsenault admitted that AC Valhalla (2020) has too much content:
«The game was getting more and more confusing. If you played [Valhalla] on release, it was good, but the longer you waited [before you started playing], the more add-ons and free content appeared. At some point, the game turned into a monster. It was already a monster, but by the end it became even [bigger]».
When working on the expansion for Assassin's Creed Shadows, this point was taken into account and they tried to avoid increasing the scale, this was also helped by resource constraints — the DLC was made by a smaller team than worked on the main part.
