The release of The Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion Remastered reminded players of the Bethesda classic. The game has a specific dialogue option called "rumors," which makes it easy to get information about what's going on around you and find a reason for new adventures.
For some, this has become a real tool. In the TES 4 Oblivion community, a story from one user has gone viral, who found that "you can approach people in real life and ask them about rumors, like in Oblivion, and they will actually answer."
The user shared his experience of using dialogue mechanics in real life. Several years ago, he was traveling in the USA, and had a moment that "was literally Oblivion:"
"I went into a bar and asked some guy, \"What rumors have you heard?\", and he told me about a person who went missing while hiking to a nearby volcano."
