Sony continues to develop PS5 capabilities, preparing some features for the future PS6 and its portable version.
A recent update adds the Power Saver feature — an energy-saving mode. It allows reducing console power consumption by reducing resolution or frame rate, similar to the energy-saving mode on smartphones.
«The first games to support the mode will be Demon's Souls, Ghost of Yotei, and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach,» Sony clarified. Players will be able to decide whether to enable the feature for a specific project.
Interestingly, insiders believe Power Saver is the first step towards launching large games on devices with lower performance — this is how the portable version of PS6 is rumored to work. Theoretically, the mode will allow large products to run smoothly even on weak hardware, and now the PS5 serves as a testing ground for the technology.
If the rumors are confirmed, Power Saver will become a key feature, paving the way for a mobile revolution in the world of PlayStation.
