The demo is available on all major platforms. Initial comparisons of Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series S, and PlayStation 5 reveal noticeable differences in resolution and performance, with the PS5 version leading in graphics quality.
On PS5 and Xbox consoles, players have two display modes available: Quality, which increases resolution but limits the frame rate to 30 fps, and Performance, which achieves a frame rate of 60 fps with almost no change to visual settings. On Switch 2, there is no choice — only one mode with 30 fps is available, making it the only next-generation platform without the option to increase the frame rate.
Differences in graphics are also noticeable. PS5 demonstrates more detailed shadows, improved lighting, and powerful post-processing, providing the most elaborate visual style. Xbox Series S is close in quality, although it lags behind PS5 in effects and clarity. Switch 2 lags behind the most: textures, shadows, lighting, post-processing, and model detail are reduced in some objects. Together with the 30 fps limitation, this makes the Switch 2 version the least technically advanced.
However, the artistic style is maintained on all platforms: the atmosphere is gloomy, and the overall tone is unsettling, as in previous games in the series. The necessity of the Quality mode on PS5 and Xbox is questionable: with identical settings and only a slight increase in resolution, 30fps seems less practical than Performance.
Little Nightmares 3 will be released on October 10, 2025, for Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
