The console handles ray tracing, but not without compromises.
Experts at Digital Foundry in the latest edition of their weekly podcast compared the announcement trailer for Resident Evil Requiem for Switch 2 with the PC version. The analysis showed that the port was originally developed with RTGI (ray tracing for global illumination) in mind, providing a visual experience close to other systems. Switch 2 handles RT at an acceptable level, albeit with some compromises: reduced image quality, hair rendering, shadow detail, and the absence of RT reflections.
Performance in the pre-release build looks a bit unstable, but given that this is an early version, the final release, scheduled for February 27, 2026, should offer smoother gameplay.
