In recent years, Sony Interactive Entertainment has rarely released its own games. And those that did come out did not always achieve the projected success. Therefore, the company is adjusting its strategy, focusing on promoting the console and supporting single-player projects.
At the same time, not every product will cost the publisher millions, and Ghost of Yotei looks like just such an example.
Recently, the co-founder of Sucker Punch Productions gave an interview to Game File. He noted that the new game is more of a development of a proven formula than a radical revolution. According to him, the project has a comparable scale to the previous part and was created in similar conditions. This means that the budget was close to what was allocated for Ghost of Tsushima in 2020.
«If you look at the finances, the duration of development, the number of months, and the size of the team, the indicators are almost the same,» he emphasized.
Based on data from the end of 2023, Ghost of Tsushima cost about $60 million and was created over five years by a team of 150–160 people. Everything indicates that Ghost of Yotei received a comparable amount of resources.
