Megabonk became another example of an indie game that appeared literally out of nowhere and managed to grab a piece of the market without any advertising campaign.
The project was released on September 18, 2025, and quickly gained popularity on Steam. More than 24 thousand people were in the game at the same time. It is especially impressive that such a result was achieved with a minimal budget and a complete lack of marketing — the game was made by one developer.
In Megabonk, players fight endless waves of enemies, collect loot, and strengthen heroes. The project can be described as survival with roguelike elements, where levels are generated randomly. The author notes that he was inspired by Vampire Survivors and Risk of Rain 2.
On Steam, Megabonk from the developer vedinad currently has "very positive" reviews, and the average rating is 94%.
Megabonk rose to 12th place among Steam's sales leaders, which looks especially bright for a project without advertising promotion.
