Bucky noted that when announcing Palfarm, he expected "a certain percentage of silly statements and disgruntled people", as well as a small proportion of those who would be "screaming" at Pocketpair. However, he admits that he did not expect comparisons of Pocketpair with wizards capable of making an entire game in a week.

In early September, Nintendo announced Pokemon Pokopia for Switch 2. The game is a farming simulator, but with Pokémon instead of cows, pigs, and chickens. Almost two weeks after the announcement of Pokopia, Pocketpair studio announced Palworld: Palfarm, a farming simulator, but with pals instead of cows, pigs, and chickens.
