Alinea Analytics announced that the new Techland game sold over 1.5 million copies in the week after its release.
Most of the copies, a million, went to players on Steam. 82% of buyers are fans of the first part, and 77% have already played Dying Light 2: Stay Human. This demonstrates the strength of the community around the series. Techland is proud of its success: even before its release, the game collected more than a million pre-orders.
Series Director Tymon Smektała noted: "Knowing that the game is ready and seeing the enthusiasm of the community, we wanted to do something special for the players." The developers accelerated the release so that fans could try the game earlier.
Dying Light: The Beast offers the most diverse world in the history of the series — from the Old Town and industrial biomes to swamps and villages. Game Director Nathan Lemaire called it "the most versatile world" created by Techland.
The game is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, with versions for PS4 and Xbox One coming later. Critics praise the narrative but note the flat development of the character Kyle Crane.
